2025 BBQ & Drive

Sunday’s BBQ was one of the best with sixty attending. It was fantastic to see many former bowlers joining the afternoon.

Special thanks go to our ladies for getting the club decorated for our tribute to VJ Day and being honoured by the presence of Dick Gill who will celebrate his 99th birthday in November, Dick was with the Royal Marine Commandos in Australia when Japan surrendered and subsequently in Hong Kong when it was returned to British Rule. He has recently been granted life membership of the Royal Naval Association.

Our thanks go to Jackie and Gloria, for preparation of the Pimms, onions and sweetcorn and Alan for once again organising the Bowls Drive. Thanks go to Richard, Stuart and Mac for their work as BBQ chefs, Jan and Peter who served, and finally to Abbey and Pat who organised and sold raffle tickets. The raffle raised almost £200.00 thank you to those who contributed prizes..

All in all a great afternoon enjoyed and supported by so many of our members,

One person who should be thanked of course and that is Dick himself. Dick gets things organised, he puts an immense amount of work and energy into any event in which he is involved. So a big thank you to you Dick for all the time and hard work you give for the benefit of both the members and the Club.
